On April 2nd and 3rd, 2009, MMA and the State of Minnesota had their first bargaining session for the 2009-2011 Labor Agreement. At the meeting, MMA and the State presented their opening proposals. MMA also made its proposals regarding the agency supplements and the inequities regarding certain supervisory job classifications. The State did not make an opening economic proposal. The insurance benefits are being bargained by a coalition of all the State unions with the State and that bargaining will be going on through April.
The State did make a proposal regarding “furlough” days similar to what they proposed to AFSCME and MAPE. This proposal was made in Article 25 – Voluntary Reduction in Hours (the title would be changed to Reduction in Hours) and would allow the Appointing Authority to reduce the supervisors work schedule not to exceed 24 work days per fiscal year. The supervisor would continue to accrue seniority, sick leave, vacation leave and receive insurance benefits at the normal rate.
Contract negotiations are scheduled to continue on the following dates:
May 4th, 5th and 6th
June 4th and 5 th
July 9 th and 10th
